I took the store more fully online years ago after moving the physical location. Facebook and Twitter were things I held onto and rather foolishly I gave up my old domain which now I can buy back for $3,000 - haha! But after five years of taking my tutorials and discussions online through Twitch and somewhat on YouTube, I decided to dust off all the social media I had and try to enhance the organic growth I already experienced.
In addition to the two previously mentioned, I took my YouTube out of mothballs which was mostly put to the side after the pandemic first hit. Being a "non-essential" business, it was a stressful time and I was looking at other ways to keep things going. While the streams continued, my ability to tend to YouTube fell by the wayside.
Now some years later, it seems my options for online outreach have grown!
YouTube led to Rumble, Rumble led to Locals. I even opened up an Instagram in conjunction with my Facebook site as I didn't have one there either. PHEW!
Now it's time to learn more about these platforms and reach out through them to try and cultivate an even broader audience that wants to have fun learning about RPGs, painting miniatures, and challenging themselves to create worlds and stories out of nothing more than a few dice rolls.
Or, like Saturday's broadcast, we used rice and beans to make a map for the NaNoWriMo project being completed over the course of this month.

Thank you for finding The Hero Zone! It seems only natural that a Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) would find its way onto Locals. For the past five years, I have been broadcasting out of the store in order to teach the craft of storytelling, instill the joy of painting miniatures, and bringing newcomers to tabletop games into a lifetime of fun with friends and family.
The Hero Zone is a home away from home, a base of operations, and a place where you can find yourself challenged to think creatively and share your experiences of victory and defeat with others.
Using Twitch as the original attempt to bring such a unique form of edutainment outside of the hallowed halls of the brick-and-mortar game store, this place has seen continual growth online due to the welcoming nature we all foster.
Just as I do on Twitch, I hope to build a really special place here and use it as a platform for outreach, creativity, and even be able to give back to those who help small businesses flourish.
